New Horizons: Nikon D300

It's time to take the next step, to use proper equipement and to learn some photographical techniques. I bought myself a Nikon D300.
I'm very excited, the baby feels very good in my hands, but we first have to get to know each other. After years of fooling around with easy girls cameras it's a challenge to start a serious relationship with a complex, mature lady :-)

Building Ecke Kleist-Martin-Luther-Strasse

I always thought you can find everything in the internet but in fact it's quite difficult to find specific information about interesting buildings that didn't make it to the classics. I could only find one page (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=854524) stating that this building is called Philips-Haus and it was built by Paul Schwebes but when I search for the architects oeuvre it's mentioned nowhere. So if anybody out there has more information, i would appreciate.

Frankfurt: Olivetti-Building by Egon Eiermann (1968-1972)

Egon Eiermann is one of the most important german post-war architects. Most people know his new Gedächtniskirche at Zoologischer Garten in Berlin, but he was also a famous designer for furniture and Olivetti decided to hire the best architect of the time to show off with their new headquarter in germany

DZ Bank by Frank Gehry

I like the back of the building, facing the jewish memorial. Apparently Gehry had to do some compromises and that softens his drive towards often too organic architecture.

Enclosed a citation from Adolf Behne in a postcard to the young Hans Scharoun explaining to him exactly this delicate subject.

Tempelhof Airport

I'm not too much into neo-classical, monumental architecture and god only knows what courageous buildings we missed due to the Nazi-regime. But i must admit that the world's largest building of the time is quite impressive

Alexanderhaus und Berolinahaus by Peter Behrens

Peter Behrens is one of the main figures of early modern architecture.
Around 1900, he brought modernism into (industrial) architecture, invented Corporate Design by creating everything from the typography to ashtrays and the actual factory building for major german enterprise AEG.
He was one of the founders of the "Deutscher Werksbund" and "The Ring", Le Corbusier, Gropius and Mies van der Rohe learned from and worked with him.
In the 30s he was entrusted to recreate Alexanderplatz, the 2 buildings left by him are the Berolinahaus and the Alexanderhaus:
