Cuba 2009

It's been a week now since i came back from Cuba and i've finally managed to go through my 2000+ photos and make a first selection. And before the memories fade and i start thinking it was a dream i'm gonna make a little travel-summary.
Right away, it's very inspiring, almost all clichés are true and if you have the oppurtunity, go and visit the Pearl of the Caraibes, no-one knows how long it's gonna be stuck in time like this.

It's warm, there are palm- and coconuttrees everywhere.

The sea covers every tone between the blue and the green and it seems someone regulated the temperature to "just perfect".

There is Music everywhere, in every average Café in Havana there's a 5-8 man-band playing, with a looot of percussions, they have incredibly talented musicians, and when they all come together it really grooves.

The old men all wear sombreros.

Che is God, America is evil and "the Revolution" is religion.

Military and Police everywhere.

Food isn't very good besides seafood and fruits, but at least we europeans don't have to worry about how we're getting our stomach filled.
Mojito is the best fucking drink in the world!
The Architecture, especially in Havana, is splendid: Colonial, representative buildings in decay, baby-blue and rosé colours, fancy 50s chic, communistic bombast.

And the cars.. It seems like they have put all oldtimers on this island, they're everywhere and they look just marvelous.

I will try to blog some more, not sure though if i will find the time.
But you will definetely see the best pictures at the West Berlin Gallery from the 5-19 february 2010, i'm actually quite busy preparing the exhibition.
